Gary Wick
CPP-D
Self taught artist Gary first used pastels in 1963-64 and not again until 1996 after 32 years of working as an architecture draftsman. He picked up those old pastels and started painting his favorite subjects, flowers, barns, sunsets and landscapes along with documenting works from various trips in Europe and North America with his wife Alice. He creates his paintings from the photos he has taken even from some taken in Vietnam in 1967-68, those paintings have been donated to the National Veterans Art Museum here in Chicago. His work is based on the experiences gained by making mistakes and correcting them, his art work has won many awards and he has been published something his dad said would never happen. He has gained Distinguished status as a member of the Chicago Pastel Painters.
